Product Description
Prairie Bilt Sleds is the originator of this superb runner plastic design. Since snow conditions vary extensively and change along the trail, the Fast Trax™ plastic is available in three different types, yellow, White Lightning and Fat Trax.
Our Fast Trax™ runner plastic is formed by a highly specialized extrusion process. This superior manufacturing process enables us to produce a high quality sintered product while also ensures a precise fit.. We guarantee exact fit to our “REX Runners”™ every time. The Fast Trax runner plastic incorporates a tracking groove to improve sliding trueness and turning ability.
Fat Trax is the solution to longer lasting runner plastic. Choose 1 1/4″ width or 1 1/2″ width. The wear surface is a full 1/2″ thick, this allows you far more time on the trail before needing to change plastic. Made from a super dense UHMW plastic and extruded into the Fast Trax profile for a perfect fit to the Rex runner every time. Wear quality is excellent. This plastic works well in all snow conditions.
Application Information
We have found that different plastics work better in different moisture levels of snow, trail conditions and different temperatures. In all of our testing programs, we have found that the condition of the snow, rather than temperature, is the most important factor in determining the performance of the plastics. I started the 2014 Iditarod with the Fat Trax and used them till Nikolai. They are great to use on rough and snowless trail conditions. I have purchased these again to use in the 2015 Iditarod.

I used the fat trax on the 2015 race to the sky. Lots of bare ground and gravel roads. They worked great

Mike Williams Jr – :
I used the fat Trax runner plastic in the 2014 Iditarod from start to finish.. a number of mushers burned their plastics to the aluminum in just the run from Rohn to Nikolai. Due to the continuous hard icy trail I didn’t feel the need to change plastics that year throughout the race though they were scratched up, had a lot of plastic left.. I used them again, but a new pair, in my last Iditarod in 2018.. they seem to have good slide in just about any conditions so I used them start to finish.. my only issue was in the deep soft snow, wider runners would have helped but all in all the quality is superb
